Heraeus Quartz North America, LLC. has an immediate opening for a Engineering Project Technician to join our Engineering team at our Buford, GA. facility.  The Engineering Project Tech is a critical member of the Engineering department, responsible for safely and efficiently building, modifying, and upgrading equipment utilized in our daily operations.

 

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for building, modifying, and upgrading factory equipment from procedures, schematics, engineering sketches and/or verbal instruction under guidance from Project Engineer.

  • Wiring electrical control panels including PLC hardware and machine field devices.

  • Installation and and field fitting of mechanical process equipment and test equipment. 

  • Assist Project engineers in commissioning of new process equipment.  Support production during validation of process equipment.

  • Perform troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical assemblies and systems using test and measurement equipment.

  • Maintain excellent collaborative working relationships with Maintenance, R&D, and Operations

  • Train operations and maintenance on new equipment.

  • Create simple mechanical and electrical schematics using Autodesk Products.

  • Maintain highest level of adherence to Heraeus EHS standards

What is required for this role:

  • Associates or Techncial Degree and 2 years experience or High school diploma with 7 years relavant experience.

  • Must have a knowledge of mechanical and electrical assembly techniques

  • An understanding of basic electronics and demonstrated experience with electronic troubleshooting.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft  Office products

  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools and electronic test equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic familiarization with AutoCAD

  • Basic understanding of PLC, HMI, motors, and drives.

  • Understanding of precision optical and electrical sensors.

  • Experience with Industrial Lasers.
