The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in fulfilling the environmental, health and safety requirements within the facility in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulatory agencies and Company policy. The EHS Engineer will plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs, requiring application of engineering principles to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions.

 

Your Role & Responsibilities:

  • Support Site in developing, reviewing and tracking on action plans for identified EHS issues as required to ensure that tasks are being completed on schedule.
  • Perform, develop, implementation regular EHS risk assessments.
  • Establish and maintain an equipment and process review schedule by production area.
  • Develop and provide required EHS trainings to facility personnel.
  • Perform EHS-related measurements and calculations for air emission, wastewater, industrial hygiene and others as applicable.
  • Initiate and organize, frequent EHS safety walks to identify opportunities for improvements and safety risks potentials.
  • Reviews existing processes, activities, and raw materials, then approving and documenting such changes prior to implementation to ensure that EHS compliance standards are maintained.
  • Perform overview, reporting, investigation and follow-up of all site injury/ illness, environment/ process safety incidents, property damages, EHS allegations and environmental issues.

 

What is required for this role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, a related field of study or relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of previous experience in a manufacturing / industrial / raw materials/chemical setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, organizational skills, and an attention to detail; exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office is required. Proficiency in application of EHS regulatory standards is required.
  • CIH or CSP designation preferred.
  • Up to date certificates/Trainer in industrial truck, DOT, fall protection, electrical safety, etc. desired.
