Summary
The primary responsibilities of this position are to load, operate and unload surface grinding machinery with ceramic semi-finished products. The Grinding Operator will also operate small hand tools and equipment in the use of moving and processing products as well as ensuring the machining production schedule is executed to time, quality, and productivity requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as required):
- Responsible for set-up and operating machine tools to create / modify ceramic parts for direct sale to a customer.
- Set up industrial machinery and oversee its functioning. Must be able to interpret and use blueprints for specific piece design, as well as calibrate equipment to follow product specifications. Follow strict company and industry safety regulations, as well as a tightly controlled sequence of functions and equipment programming functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other machinists and supervisors, as well as attend regular training sessions for updates on equipment use. May provide training to team members on relevant industry processes and equipment operations safety.
- Must be self-sufficient and work well with minimal supervision and must be able to detect and correct program errors in a timely fashion.
- Follow directions, SOP’s, and documented protocols.
- Properly and safely load and unload raw materials in machinery, as well as change out tools as required. Must have experience calibrating calipers and micrometers. Ability to use other small tools.
- Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery.
- Must be able to report progress to the production supervisor in their department.

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- 2 plus years industrial equipment experience
- Computer Literate and Knowledgeable about tools and tooling
- Able to utilize small hand tools, Powered Industrial Trucks, or other lift mechanisms.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds without strain and needs to have a Quality First attitude and a strong team spirit to help keep equipment running within process specifications.
- Must stand for several hours at a time while performing their main job functions
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write business correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate (orally and in writing) with all levels within the organization.
- Excellent communication skills – oral, written, interpersonal.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Internet software, and other software programs to support the manufacturing environment. Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge is a must.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply common sense towards the execution of responsibilities. Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
