The primary responsibility of this position is to develop key understanding of advanced ceramic surface grinding, lapping and polishing to optic finish. Secondary responsibility in process engineering for evening shift for all facets of production including powder processing, sintering and CNC. This position will be an evening shift of 3pm-11:30pm.
The following challenges await you:
- Develop and prioritize a scouting or project list of enabling long term technologies by interviewing key internal and external stakeholders on technology roadmaps and trends.
- Map the technology space by understanding emerging new raw materials and sintering technologies and transforming those concepts to production volumes.
- Publish emerging technology intelligence reports and briefings for internal stakeholders.
- Identify and analyze key technologies that we should evaluate. Partner with relevant internal technologists on evaluations. Collaborate with other New Materials and Markets Team members throughout the process.
- Initiate a technical evaluation by executing the most promising projects internally and with external partners. Collaborate closely with all R&D teams.
- Plan and conduct assigned research activities supporting the design of new products to customer or industry specifications.
- Function as a resource to sales, marketing, technical service, and manufacturing on a frequent basis to provide detailed explanations or technical responses.
- Promote the company by attending technical conferences, trade shows, and educational. Remain current in the field as it relates to existing and future technologies; ability to present at same.
Your Profile:
- Master's Degree in technical discipline preferred but not required. Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in advanced ceramic manufacturing or other material related machining are required. The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Must have knowledge of all pertinent technologies in advanced ceramic manufacturing, characterization tools, and materials.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence colleagues and peers to achieve goals and drive decision making is required.
- Attention to detail, well-organized and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- This is an active hands-on role that requires for you to be on your feet and moving around the production floor constantly.
