 The primary responsibility of this position is to execute production set up, testing, documenting and providing technical knowledge and product support internally. Participate in technical discussions with R&D team, management and sales team regarding product lines, processes, material applications, and any issues related to Heraeus Conamic products.

The Process Technician II is the high level of specialized skill in the production of various ceramic materials. This position requires mastering the set-ups, maintenance, and operation of a variety of ceramic processing machines including Press tooling, surface grinder operations, and lapping/polishing to produce precision ceramic products.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, identify, and resolve technical problems or complaints from the product development line in order to maintain and increase business in the most accurate and timely manner. Work with team members or cross-functional teams to address complex technical problems or incoming customer complaints. Work with the R&D team processes to solve repeat complaints and/or process related issues. Support issue resolution process within the product line by communication of root cause analyses findings and reports.
  • Execute product testing/benchmarking, supporting the development and modification of new and existing products for new applications.
  • Act as the technical “voice” of the customer internally – function as a resource to research and development, engineering and production by providing detailed product information and application knowledge.
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of the materials science used in the application of finished goods and the effect on performance. Identify new technology and product trends, and applications and communicate to supervisor.

What is required for this role:

  • A minimum of an Associate Degree in technical field with a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in a related position, are required. The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience in high-changeover manufacturing environment(s) as a Semiconductor, Materials, or Machining Process Technician or similar hands-on position, with knowledge of related equipment programming, setup and operation, with equipment and process troubleshooting/optimization capability.
  • Experience with current materials science, and semiconductor knowledge not limited to: Materials development, Material Lapping/Polishing/CMP, Cleanroom contamination prevention protocols, and some knowledge of materials machining experience would be preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of materials and semiconductor related manufacturing processes, including manual and automated processes; such as, large scale parts handling, cleaning, and rework/repair. Must be creative, able to analyze defects and existing processes, and be able to think ‘outside-the-box’ to develop unique solutions to customer problems when required.
  • Experience with varying aspects of ceramic based materials, machining, and semiconductor grade materials. Candidate should possess the ability to develop, modify, troubleshoot and optimize processes for materials and densities, surface finish types, etc., in equipment types not limited to: surface grinder, lapping and polishing or other material processing equipment.
  • Must be able to talk-through and demonstrate understanding and ability to program, setup, operate, troubleshoot and optimize assembly equipment in order to (a): determine/achieve optimal equipment settings and process parameters, and (b): to identify/confirm true root-cause of associated assembly and process-related defects.
  • Must at a minimum possess a basic understanding of related manufacturing processes/techniques; surface finish/material-type, application methods, and common attributed problems.
