Your Role and Responsibilities: 

  • Work with lean innovation practices to allow the most rapid development possible.
  • Operate on multiple projects to keep them all moving forward in a timely fashion.
  • Plan, carry out and report technical experiments to enable new materials and product development.
  • Identify and analyze key technologies that could provide a performance advantage to our products.
  • Collaborate with other R&D, Engineering and New Materials and Markets Team members throughout the process of development.
  • Remain current in the field as it relates to existing and future technologies by attending technical conferences, trade shows, and educational seminars.
  • Support failure analysis of experiments and production support as required.
  • Key member of R&D team pushing the development of advanced ceramic materials for critical customer applications.
  • Develop and identify intellectual property related to the materials and applications.
  • Surface chemistry of ceramics in relation to cleaning and reducing contamination of product for semiconductor applications
  • Failure and Fracture analysis of brittle solids in support of manufacturing and customer escalations. Testing and control of material properties such as mechanical, chemical, electrical and dielectric

 

What is required for this role: 

  • Graduate degree (MS/PhD) work in Ceramic Engineering related subject area and 5+ years of industry experience preferred.
    • BS degree with comparable experience and knowledge base will be considered.
  • Direct experience or deep familiarity with all ceramic processing techniques from powder synthesis, processing, sintering, fabrication and machining.
  • Experience with all common analytical tools and techniques relevant to ceramic processing and materials testing.
  • In depth powder processing to include synthesis, reactions, grinding and milling techniques to achieve controlled powder systems with a high purity.
  • Sintering experience and technical familiarity with traditional firing, vacuum sintering, and pressure based techniques such as gas pressure sintering, hot pressing, spark plasma sintering and hot isostatic pressing.
  • Ceramic machining techniques such as grinding and CNC, in addition to surface finishing of ceramic systems by lapping and polishing to achieve surface finish up to optical levels of quality.
