Here are just a few of the things you will get to do:

  • The primary responsibility of this position is to produce products for Heraeus Epurio LLC, meeting customer specifications.
  • Read and understand batch procedures and work instructions including related MSDSs (material safety data sheets).
  • Measure, weigh, and mix chemical ingredients, according to procedure.  Control or operate equipment in which chemical changes or reactions take place during the processing of products. Monitor gauges, recording instruments, flowmeters, or products to ensure that specified conditions are maintained. Adjust controls to regulate temperature, pressure, feed, or flow of liquids or gases and times of prescribed reactions, according to knowledge of equipment and processes. Make necessary adjustments on equipment units affecting speeds of chemical reactions, quality, or yields as directed/approved by Supervisor.
  • Record operational data, such as temperatures, pressures, ingredients used, processing times, or test results. Draw samples of products for the Analytical Department at specified stages so that analyses can be performed for specific chemical characteristics such as pH levels, concentrations, or viscosities.
  • Observe safety precautions to prevent overflow, fires, explosions or spills. Inspect equipment or units to detect leaks or malfunctions, shutting equipment down if necessary. Notify internal resources as directed to troubleshoot technical issues with equipment.
  • Follow safety guidelines for handling materials and equipment with the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required. Maintain organization and cleanliness of working area and equipment to avoid contamination.

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required; basic chemistry, reading and math skills are required.  Associates Degree in Chemistry preferred.  Two plus years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is preferred. The equivalent combination of experience and/or education will be considered.
  • Self-starter with an attention to detail required. 
  • Organizational skills, teamwork skills, and the ability to multi-task are required. 
  • Knowledge of equipment such as reactors, pumps, stirrers, dryers and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance is required.
