As the Procurement Manager, you will report to the Global Head of Procurement and your primary role is to streamline procurement operations. You will act as the go-to for procurement activities, liaise with the Regional Procurement Manager, and lead negotiations with essential suppliers. You will manage significant procurement activities, aligning strategies with business objectives, and drive strategic improvement initiatives. Additionally, you will contribute to global projects, conduct supplier risk evaluations, ensure sufficient material flow with subcontractors, allocate resources efficiently and effectively, and prevent operational halts. Your responsibilities are primarily strategic, but you will also support the business as a tactical buyer when needed. Your leadership will ensure procurement contributes significantly to the organization's success.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Streamlines communication and coordinates activities between stakeholders and the procurement team.
- Advances initiatives to improve procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
- Acts as the primary procurement liaison in the U.S., co-managing purchasing activities with the Regional Procurement Manager.
- Executes strategic supplier negotiations and spearheads significant U.S.-based procurement projects, ensuring regional alignment with global objectives.
- Develops and oversees the local procurement team, contributing to global projects like sustainability and supply chain due diligence.
- Manages supplier risk assessment and implements risk mitigation strategies.
- Optimizes material flows with subcontractors and ensures the strategic allocation of resources for materials procurement.
- Guarantees the selection and evaluation of cost-effective suppliers, adherence to procurement guidelines, and compliance with legal regulations.
- Vigilantly prevents disruptions, initiates proactive supplier diversification, and leads the search for and qualifications of alternate suppliers.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelors degree in purchasing, supply chain, or related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant working experience and with a minimum of two years experience in a leadership role/leading people.
- Superb negotiation, communication and problem solving skills.
- Ability to team with others vertically and horizontally as well as cross culturally.
- Adept at working under pressure.
- SAP and chemical industry experience is preferred.
- Ability to be entrepreneurial in a small business unit; conduct tactical tasks as needed.
- Assertive, disciplined, professional, diplomatic and polished.
- Data analytic skills to develop total annualized cost of options, savings, etc.
- High proficiency w/ MS Office applications (Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Extensive experience negotiating legal contracts and CAPEX projects.
