The Heraeus Medevio Dorado manufacturing facility is looking for an EHS Specialist to join our growing team. Within this new position, the EHS Specialist will report to the site Quality Manager, while providing EHS support to our four shift manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing, implementing and coordinating EHS programs.
- Ensuring EHS programs are effective and compliant with regulations.
- Developing and/or reviewing SOP’s on EHS topics, including site emergency response and business continuity plans.
- Acquiring necessary permitting and licensing for ongoing EHS facility operations.
- Interfacing with state and federal agencies, such as state environmental agencies, DOT, EPA and OSHA.
- Conducting workplace, task and machine risk assessments.
- Ensuring accurate information within the EHS management systems, while overseeing the administration of the EHS internal auditing programs.
- Participating in investigations root cause analysis and ensuring effective closure of corrective actions.
- Implementing and providing leadership to safety committee, first aid team and spill response team.
- Training current employees and new hires on facility EHS requirements, along with developing EHS and DOT compliance training.
- Tracking EHS relevant data while compiling and submitting statistical reports and updates on trends.
- Ensuring all incidents, near miss, observations, action items and risk assessments are documented in Intelex and addressed in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety or related field
- Bilingual (Spanish and English)
- Two (2) years of manufacturing environment experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medical device industry experience
- EHS and regulations experience
- Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
- Previous experience with audits, carbon emissions and ergonomics
- Good communication and presentation skills to train current employees and new hires on facility EHS requirements
