In this position you will provide technical support to cross-functional teams to characterize and develop new technology platforms and processes within Heraeus Medical Components (HMC).  Supports the creation of and implements the strategy for platform development by providing technical support to the Global Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Commercial teams.


Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated strong applied understanding of process characterization, numerical modeling, design & process inputs and outputs, Design of Experiments (DOE), pFMEA, scaleup factors, mitigation to foreseen risks, and capability analysis. This knowledge will be leveraged across various technologies as needed.
  • Participate in technology platform projects as they are being developed, implemented and documented to successfully introduce new platforms into R&D or manufacturing. Involved in prototyping, process development, confirmation runs, and validation. Available to support and trouble shoot production issues as needed.
  • Key participant in the global HMC team to drive design and process excellence and improve clinical effectiveness in support of our customer needs.
  • Identifies technology building blocks that support advancements in chronic implanted devices (i.e. Neuromodulation) and participates in the development of the platform roadmap.
  • Supports business development efforts with Global Account Managers, Product Line Managers, and Business Segment Leaders.
  • Supporting contributor to development of Intellectual Property portfolios.
  • Support business line and project engineering with accurate communication and representation of HMC’s capabilities.
  • Continually develops expertise in defined market segments in order to develop cutting edge technologies that result in commercialization of new platforms with our customers.
  • Identify opportunities for new platform development activities based on unmet clinical needs.
  • Provides technical support to the sales team as requested.
  • Provide training to others based on expertise demonstrated work performance. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by advisor or the company.

What is required for this role:


  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Biomedical or equivalent) required
  • A minimum of 2 years engineering experience in the medical device industry required
  • Direct experience participating in complex projects to commercialization
  • Direct experience in a minimum of 2 of the following functions: product development, process development, product design, operations, quality assurance, design assurance
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting positive customer experiences.
  • Must be proficient with CAD and creating complex multi-part models
  • Experience with a medical device OEM preferred
  • Experience in creating numerical modeling and data interpretation to resolve technical challenges preferred
