In this position you will lead strategy development and execution to grow the HMC business in the neuromodulation market segment.


This position may be located in White Bear Lake or Fridley, Minnesota.


Responsibilities include: 

Market Strategy & Analysis

  • Set the long-term vision and strategy for HMCs products embracing the HMC mission and vision
  • Identification of market potential, customer needs, competitive environment
  • Lead the market and product strategy development for the neuromodulation segment, and communicate this strategy to all of the relevant participants and stakeholders
  • Understands the business end to end and leads the execution of the strategy with a GM mindset
  • Responsible for developing processes and criteria that gauges technical and market risks as well as sales and value potential
  • Responsible for scanning the market in order to identify and propose M&A, alliances and licensing opportunities


Business Plan Creating & Implementation

  • Defines the product portfolio roadmap that accounts for and integrates market trends, customer needs and financial objectives
  • Responsible for developing and communicating a formal business plan for a product portfolio, including specific investments, make or buy decisions and resource plan
  • Responsible for achieving the growth objectives including market share, revenue, profit, and return on investment for all the products within portfolio and with key customers
  • Responsible for the price of the product, establishes and manages costs and margin targets for the segment. Creates pricing guidelines for product portfolio that include margin targets within framework set by the Executive Leadership Team
  • Ensure commercial success of product portfolio in all phases of its products lifecycle from concept to end of life
  • Partners with sales organization to develop and implement Go to Market strategy
  • Defines the priorities for Sales and Product Development teams
  • Implements efficient processes that ensure alignment between Sales and Product Development
  • Remain close to the tactical elements of the organizational execution


New Product Development & Launch

  • Partners with R&D and Operations to develop product capability and technology roadmap
  • Creates business cases to define and value opportunities in the specified market segment
  • Is leading process for customer project prioritization and responsible to guide, prioritize and redirect (as needed) engineering activities to ensure a timely delivery of customer projects
  • Enables project success by overseeing project execution and utilizing data to challenge projects teams regarding strategy and underlying assumptions
  • Decides and partners with R&D to define priorities for platform developments
  • Balancing HMC funded customer developments versus self-funded developments within product portfolio
  • Partners with Marketing to lead and implement promotion activities for product portfolio


Customer Experience

  • Collects and interpret voice of the customer (VOC) in order to define long-term customer needs


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business or related field required; MBA helpful;
  • A minimum of 10 years of related experience including the medical device manufacturing industry required.
  • Experience in the neuromodulation market preferred.
  • Demonstrated consistent growth in leadership roles ideally in medical B2B organizations. 
  • Experience leading strategy and understanding of specified market segments
