Here are just a few of the things you will get to do:


  • Formulate, recommend, plan, and execute the company's research programs to develop and adapt new technology concepts. 
  • Develop unique and innovative technologies leading to the development of breakthrough new products. 
  • Create, develop, design, and improve the organization's products; execute existing product support/improvement/cost effective (cost reduction) solutions. 
  • Support development of industrial magnetrons, UV irradiators, electrodeless UV bulbs/lamps, specialty reflectors/optics, and high voltage power sources/supplies.
  • Conduct testing and pilot runs of new or improved products and investigate and provide technical assessment of product failures; design apparatus and diagnostics for experimentation, analyze data, and implement solutions and design changes.
  • Act as technical lead in transferring newly developed technology to Product Development Engineers. 
  • Represent the company in outside technical forums and write and present technical papers.
  • Travel to customer sites and suppliers (domestically and internationally); approximately 10% to 25%.




We are looking for people who are not just open to new ideas, but want to bring fresh thinking, energy and a creative perspective to their work. Some of the traits and qualifications the ideal candidate would possess include:


  • Doctor of Science in physical science or engineering and 6 years or more experience in the execution of complex technology development programs and supporting/working with manufacturing operations, engineering, sales/marketing, and customers (at least Master of Science degree with 15 years experience).
  • Recognized authority as a researcher in a broad area of specializations and standing in professional field through numerous original contributions; must have achieved recognized standing in professional field through numerous original contributions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of discharge and plasma physics (bulbs/lamps), atomic and molecular spectroscopy, material physics, chemistry, reflectors/optics, photometry, and related technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in high power/voltage electronics and power supplies, and RF energy generation and management, and magnetrons.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment, and collaborate with engineers, scientists and technicians, and Strategic Procurement.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, Origin Data Analysis Software and SAP, and excellent communication skills.
