The following challenges await you:

  • Owner of our global OPC (Operational patent committee) meeting: organize, facilitate, and drive with a small team operational tasks and necessary decisions regarding the IP portfolio.
  • Support the development and implementation of the overall IP strategy in collaboration with our senior management.
  • Actively manage the HMC patent portfolio: Evaluate and analyze patent applications and patents and provide management decision support.
  • Monitoring the IP budget and take necessary actions.
  • Conduct IP landscaping studies and freedom-to-operate (FTO) patent searches in cooperation with experts.
  • Monitor third-party IP rights.
  • Conduct prior art searches in cooperation with our inventors.
  • Evaluate invention disclosures, support patent and utility model filing, prosecution and internationalization activities.
  • Communicate effectively and globally between R&D, engineering and IP departments in relation to the progress of existing patents and other IP rights.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for new patent and other IP filings in order to help expand our IP portfolio.
  • Support inventor remuneration (according to the German inventor's law) and international incentivization process.


Your Profile:

  • Master's degree in engineering (mechanical or chemical or electrical) or in science (physics or chemistry)
  • Qualification as a Patent Engineer, German/European or US Patent Attorney is an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in IP Management in the medical industry with a focus on patents and designs in an international context
  • Understand the business context of IP and how it contributes to the long-term company strategy
  • Experience in conducting patent searches (FTO, prior art, Landscaping)
  • Flexibility to support a global team, occasionally working outside traditional working hours
  • Intercultural competence for working in a multinational team
  • Hands-on mentality, flexible and with great interpersonal skills, who is able to build strong, mutually respectful relationships
  • A high degree of resilience
  • Excellent German and English language skills and good communication skills (verbal and written)
