The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Process Development team in developing, optimizing and transferring processes and technologies for new products. This includes: evaluating and implementing improvements to processes, tooling and equipment; completing characterization studies; ensuring processes are accurately documented; assisting in training and qualification of those processes during transfer to production.


This position will be located in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.


The following challenges await you:

  • Produce product through development cycle including range-finding, characterization, design verification testing, or validation as necessary
  • Complete equipment setup for producing, inspecting and testing product. Utilize inspection equipment and measurement tools i.e. vision system, micrometer, calipers, etc.
  • Ensure that all data is captured and recorded in the appropriate system: IQS, SAP, Inspire or other as specified by Engineering. This includes in-process inspection, yield confirmation, effort tracking.
  • Provides input and works with engineering to develop new and improved processes, fixtures and tooling.
  • Assist in the creation and update of work instructions, process flow maps, visual aids, setup sheets, and other documentation needs. This includes capturing images and participating in design/process reviews.
  • Train new operators/technicians to new processes as well as enforce good manufacturing practices and HMC procedures.
  • Act as the first point of contact for production to help with technical support, troubleshooting, problem solving and repair activities for new product launch and/or transfers.
  • Apply lean thinking and tools during product development to optimize manufacturing processes, eliminate waste, improve efficiency and product/process flow; and ensures a safe and ergonomically friendly work environment. Collaborates with team members to create solutions.
  • Work in a variety of environments from clean room, pilot production, engineering lab, etc. May travel to various sites to support development needs.


Your profile:

  • HS Diploma required, Associate Degree helpful.
  • A minimum of 2 years of technician level work experience required.
  • Ability to read and redline engineering documents: drawings, routing, control plan, work instructions, inspection needs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality processes and principles including Good Documentation Practices, SPC, SAP, impact to critical dimensions/features
  • Experience with basic inspection and measurement tools, including basic computer aptitude.
  • Comfortable working in a self-directed, fast-paced, team environment and giving or asking for instructions.
  • Demonstrated style of pitching in to help solve problems – not just in identifying them
  • Willingness to collaborate with team to set goals and priorities and will follow documented procedures with accuracy.
  • Must be adaptive to change and must support a variety of work assignments to support internal and external customer expectation.
  • Experience in complex assembly, developing tooling/fixtures, setting up equipment preferred
  • Technical writing documentation ability preferred
