Your role and Responsibilities:

 

As a valued member of a global Customs and Export Team, you will be responsible for the evaluation and implementation of customs processes as well as audits and trainings for Customs and Export Control topics a portfolio managed enterprise.  In this role you will be tasked with the following:

  • Manage the competence center for Customs and Export Control in the Regional Center US.  This includes continuously develop/improve customs guidelines to improve the quality of customs procedures and to follow U.S. customs laws and regulations.  Assisting our businesses with the application for customs ruling and file prior disclosure when necessary.  Also, Provide training, guidance / tool and customs newsletter on a regular basis
  • Conduct periodic review of customs procedures and related documentation to ensure effective customs internal control.  Also, provide advices to on tariff classification, customs valuation, rules of origin and export control (EAR/ITAR), etc.  Manage the relationship with U.S. customs authorities and manage customs audits & related inquiries
  • Coordinate to release Global Trade Service (GTS) blocked transactions (SPL-checks)
  • Work with the German headquarters to implement further GTS functionalities, advanced customs processes and cooperation’s with customs brokers.   Communicate & coordinate with internal stakeholders in different departments (e.g. legal, procurement) & external service providers (e.g. brokers, customs lawyers).
  • Evaluate current supply chains and identify cost saving opportunities together with BU’s from a global perspective
  • Analyze potential impacts of changes in U.S. customs environment (e.g. U.S.-China trade dispute) to BU’s and help BU’s to mitigate adverse impacts.

 

What is required for this role:

 

We are looking for people who are not just open to new ideas, but want to bring fresh thinking, energy and a creative perspective to their work.  Some of the traits and qualifications the ideal candidate would possess include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, majored in International Trade, Customs or Logistics
  • Minimum of five years of experience in customs and export control area.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in managing people is preferred.
  • Must be able to work effectively with diverse stakeholder group at various levels in the organization.
  • Knowledge of customs and export control. Knowledge of indirect tax is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Licensed Customer Broker or similar a plus.
