Heraeus Quartz North America has an immediate openeing for a skilled preform welder to join our production team in Buford, GA. This position is for 2nd (M-F 2pm-10pm) or 3rd (S-T 10pm - 6am) shift. The primary responsibility of this position is to weld handles to quartz preforms, and to tip preforms. 

You Role and Responsibilities:

• Heat quartz solid on a lathe and "weld" (butt) the ends together to form a handle. 
• Load lathe with preform, align preform with handle, heat quartz preforms to weld handles on preforms. 
• Flame-tip preforms per customer specifications.
• Inspect handles for proper quality and size, perform stress-test on butted handles during inspection.
• Load/unload preforms into annealing ovens and measure orientation. 
• Laser scribe handles as required. 
• Cut, cone, and clean preforms.
•  Calculate weight, measure length, and enter data into QDC/SAP.

What is required for this role:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. 
• 1 year of relevant experience required. 
• A minimum of 6 months in a manufacturing enviornment a plus.
• Prior welding experience a plus.
• Demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism. 
• Self-directed and motivated with the ability to meet deadlines.
