"When the project began, it was a completely new territory for me. I had never helped design a platform or contributed to a concept that makes all competencies and skills across an entire organization visible. Suddenly, I found myself right in the middle of it – running workshops with managers and colleagues and constantly asking myself: What will the future of Heraeus Electronics look like?
Future-ready skills
It was exciting, demanding, and a real test of endurance. A large internal project team – supported intensively by Heraeus Business Solutions – was working to bring the Competence Development House to life and to ensure everything fit together seamlessly. Together with top management, we discussed which capabilities would truly make the organization ready for the future. We analyzed every function at a global level, broke roles down into concrete competencies, refined them, adjusted them – until each detail aligned perfectly.
Go-live
After eleven intense months of teamwork, the moment finally arrived: the Competence Development House went live. Four levels, 47 tailored key competencies, and more than 500 development activities, tips, and tools. The best part? It is a platform accessible to all employees – a living framework that connects learning, development, and collaboration and lays the foundation for the future of Heraeus Electronics.
And the effort paid off in an unexpected way: our joint project team from our Operating Company Heraeus Electronics and from our platform for services Heraeus Business Solutions won the Heraeus Award 2025 in the People & Culture category. A recognition of team spirit, passion, and courage – and a reminder that anyone who dares to go from zero to one hundred can achieve remarkable things."
