#HeraeusPeople Story

Pura Vida

Noelia Castro Hernández, Line Leader, Heraeus Medevio

"When I joined the company, I have to admit that I was a little afraid. Many things were still being built, and the future was uncertain. At times, there seemed to be more people than machines on the production floor. Still, I decided to stay. “I trusted the opportunity. The company was new in Cartago, but I told myself: this company has a future.”

Taking the shuttle bus into the future

That decision was important for my personal life as well. My family and I had prayed for a long time to find work close to home in Cartago, where I live. Before joining Heraeus Medevio, I worked for another medical device manufacturer outside the region. When I learned about Heraeus Medevio through social media, I was immediately interested.

Today, my commute takes only about 30 minutes. Heraeus Medevio provides a shuttle service for employees living in Cartago. I walk from my house to the main road, where the bus picks me up and takes me directly to the plant. This makes my daily routine much easier and gives me more time with my family. The first few months felt like my first day at school. I did not know anyone. Everything was new. But that changed over time. As the company grew, I got to know more and more people. What started as a small team became a large manufacturing site with many state-of-the-art production lines. And while the company grew step by step, I grew with it. I started as an operator, running machines on the production floor. Just one year later, I was given the opportunity to take on more responsibility and became a Line Leader in the Production area. This progress means a lot to me. Depending on the production line, I work with different teams. At the moment, there are around ten people on my line. Good communication and teamwork are essential. I have also learned a great deal from my supervisor. Understanding technical processes is one thing. “Leading people is not always easy. But there is a solution to every problem.”

Our culture

What I appreciate most about Heraeus Medevio is our culture. We are calm, grounded, and respectful people, and that mindset is reflected in our daily work. We treat each other with loyalty, respect, and mutual support. I also value my working hours. I work from Monday to Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The weekends belong to my family. When I look back today, I see more than the growth of a company. I see my own journey and my own success story. Being able to accompany this growth from the very beginning feels like a true gift. Or, as we say in Costa Rica: Pura Vida!"
