Job Purpose
The Digitalization Technician will support the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of digital systems across manufacturing operations in a medical device environment. This role focuses on integrating industrial automation, configuring networked devices, developing data acquisition tools, and enabling real-time data visualization through dashboards to improve operational efficiency, compliance, and decision-making
Major Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain industrial IoT devices and sensors connected to manufacturing equipment.
- Support the setup and troubleshooting of industrial and IT networks (wired and wireless)..
- Assist in the programming of PLCs, HMIs, and edge gateways for automated data collection.
- Extract, structure, and validate production data from machines and systems (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT, SQL).
- Collaborate with engineering, operations and IT teams to ensure seamless data integration from shop floor to dashboards.
- Create and maintain interactive dashboards using different tools and platforms.
- Document procedures, configurations, and system diagrams.
- Participate in digitalization projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and validation efforts.
Education
- Technician in Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering or related field
Knowledge and skills
- Critical Thinking / Problem Solving Skills
- English intermediate communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems (e.g. PLCs, HMIs)
- Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, MQTT, OPC UA)
- Basic programming and scripting (e.g., Python, Node-RED)
- Database management and queries (SQL, PostgreSQL)
- Dashboard creation and data visualization
- Familiarity with cybersecurity practices in manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of medical device regulatory environment (e.g. ISO 13485, FDA)
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar technical/engineering role
- Experience in digitalization or Industry 4.0 implementation projects
- Experience in cross-functional project environments
- Work with Manufacturing Execution System (MEs)
