The following challenges await you:

  • The EHS Co-Op will assist in fulfilling the environmental, health and safety requirements within the facility in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulatory agencies and Company policy.  The EHS Co-Op may plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs, requiring application of engineering principles and technology, to prevent or correct unsafe environmental, health, and safety working conditions. 
  • Conduct in-house EHS inspections on the facility, materials, and equipment in order to identify and execute actions needed to maintain compliance standards.  Complete and maintain associated inspection records and logs.
  • Monitor in-house EHS programs to ensure operational effectiveness including proper procedures, documentation and personnel updates and/or training.
  • Maintain & update all posting procedures, authorization lists, evacuation lists, safety posters, potential hazard records, etc.
  • Assist with the inventory, staging and loading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste containers for shipment to disposal or reclaim sites.
  • Update the Heraeus SAP system including uploading of SDSs from material vendors and conducting searches to assist site personnel with requests related to Product Stewardship and Chemical Safety
  • Coordinate and schedule in-house EHS video presentations and training sessions; maintain training enrollment and completion logs
  • Collect data and information needed to create/update written EHS programs, permits, plans and records.
  • Assist in the verification and investigation of incidents related to injury/illness, environmental/process safety, property damage, or EHS near miss/observations to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
  • Participate in risk assessments in site work areas (e.g., laboratories, power operations, maintenance/construction, office settings)
  • Promote safety awareness by creating, issuing safety campaigns for all site personnel (e.g., slip, trip, fall prevention, seasonal safety, etc.)
  • Assist in testing site workplace environments (industrial hygiene monitoring, ergonomics)
  • Other duties in alignment with development, improvement, and management of EHS Management Systems for the site

Your Profile

We are looking for people who are not just open to new ideas, but want to bring fresh thinking, energy and a creative perspective to their work. Some of the traits and qualifications the ideal candidate would possess include:

  • Bachelors Degree in progress within Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health or related field of study with courses in safety, health and environmental disciplines.  
  • Previous internship experience in a manufacturing / industrial setting or in an environmental, health and/or environmental setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, organizational skills, and an attention to detail; exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is required.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards is preferred.
  • Currently pursuing an Associates, Bachelors or Masters Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences/Engineering/Technology, Industrial Hygiene, or another technical program
  • Strong interest in EHS activities
  • Have some understanding of safety, health, and/or environmental regulations and best practices,
  • Able to work full-time (40 hours per week) onsite for approximately 6 months starting April or May 2026
  • Strong ability to convey ideas and explain decisions clearly and concisely
  • With day-to-day supervision, effectively manage multiple and changing priorities and to participate with teams/work groups to assess hazards, provide solutions and identify opportunities for improvements in meeting regulatory, corporate and organizational compliance
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as needed in site work areas (safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection
