Heraeus Quartz North America, LLC. has an immediate opening for a talented Process Engineer II to join our Engineering team at our Wilmington, NC location. The Process Engineer II provides engineering support for production, customers, project management, and engineering design expertise. This position will be given responsibility over projects ranging in scope in will require sharp attention to detail and coordination across organizational boundaries. The role provides technical guidance and effectively interacts with the Plant Manager, Production Managers, Quality Manager, Sales, and other stakeholders.   

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize production process with a focus on technology to meet output, quality, and cost targets.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity within plant.
  • Implement LEAN concepts in assigned process areas to support continuous improvement efforts through leadership of or participation in Kaizen events.
  • Apply technical knowledge to innovate and develop processes, procedures, tooling, and automation.
  • Apply engineering expertise to stabilize and continually improve processes, eliminate waste, ensure product quality meets customer expectations, minimize scrap, and drive down costs.
  • Analyze quality and process data to monitor the process, resolve quality problems, and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Effectively apply data-driven, systematic problem-solving methodologies such as Six Sigma, DMAIC, and PDCA to improve processes and systems.
  • Coordinate effective launch, industrialization, and scale up of new, potentially automated, processes and products.
  • Manage and assist with capital projects from initial budgeting and justification to final implementation.
  • Develop, implement, program, diagnose, and troubleshoot PLCs and associated components.

What is required for this role:

  • BS required in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in manufacturing required.
  • Experience in Quartz, ceramic, or glass experience a plus.
  • Experience with statistical tools and design of experiments.
  • Proficiency with data driven process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and DMAIC.
  • Project management experience required.
  • Root cause analysis, waste reduction, and lean manufacturing skills required.
  • Ability to effectively work in cross collaborative teams.
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Excel, Adobe, 2D and 3D Design, AutoCAD, Solidworks Minitab, Visio, MATLAB, and other technical software.
  • US Work Authorization required.
