The primary responsibility of this position is to test samples and materials according to Wartburg SOP and industry standards including daily calibration, weight verification, inspection, and documentation associated with all laboratory activities and equipment. To successfully work alongside production management, customer service and onsite customer representatives to produce quality results.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Supervisor regarding daily capacities and priorities; assigns subsequent tasks to lab technicians as directed.
  • Work efficiently to assure on time delivery of sample to internal or outside lab to support customer service and on-time settlement efforts; Communicate effectively with lab and production management to achieve best results.
  • Oversees maintenance of daily verification log of lab balances, scales and XRF equipment.
  • Performs all XRF, LOD, LOI in-process and final testing; to support production and execute customer specific sampling plan and practice good documentation practice in data entry.
  • Display good time management in coordinating all processing being overseen by a Customer Representative within the Sample Preparation Department; effectively communicate with Representative and Lab Supervisor, assuring customer satisfaction while maintaining HPM standard protocol.
  • Responsible for compliance to the described material processing plan, to meet the needs of Production Management, for every material lot processed through the Sample Preparation Department.
  • Assures completion of Daily throughput log to include all low grade, high grade and R&D samples that are processed through the fine sampling lab to assist with KPI tracking.
  • Uses SAP, HEROs Software to execute and record sample parameters, test results and accountancy of sample weights and assists lab supervisor in editing sampling plans or correcting data entry.
  •  Assists logistics with sample storage and inventory of lab samples.
  • Responsible for the training for all team members and encourages and promotes adherence to all safety rules.
  • Manage and maintain all appropriate materials and samples and ensure they are safely logged, labeled and stored in a secure location.

What is required for this role: 

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism and leadership ability; exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel is a plus.
  • Metallurgical experience is a plus.
