Automation Engineer II

Job Purpose
Responsible for designing and building custom automation equipment and fixtures for medical device manufacturing. Must have a desire to learn and implement rapidly changing technology to deliver the best possible solution.
- Provides hands-on design expertise for internal and external projects
- Provides internal process analysis and recommendation for technical improvement
- Works effectively with suppliers and internal resources to achieve project objectives
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Designs automation equipment and fixtures for new product development and transfer projects.
- Uses GD&T to complete catheter assembly and sub-assembly drawings
- Purchases, assembles and troubleshoots components and systems to ensure successful implementation and qualification in production.
- Completes equipment, fixtures and device drawings within project timelines
- Accurately reports and communicates progress and bottlenecks. Seeks additional resources when needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Engineering required
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in automated equipment development.
- Medical device industry experience required as a must.
- Experience with CAD and SolidWorks for machine design.
- Must demonstrate strong collaborative communication skills.
- Must possess a strong general understanding of mechanical, electro-mechanical, and automated systems.
- Must be able to manage multiple parallel projects with varying scopes and deadlines from concept to production qualification using established HMC processes.
- Must be able to draw on prior knowledge and experience and adapt to initiate effective solutions to problems at hand.
- Must demonstrate a high level of initiative and creativity.
- Must be able to perform independently.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be adaptive to change and willing to support a variety of work assignments to fulfill internal and external customer expectations.
- Excellent and clear verbal and written communication skills in English
- Must be willing and able to travel as needed.
- Ability to perform occasional lifting (up to 35 pounds), bending, stooping, sitting, standing
