The primary responsibility of this position is to act as an engineer of Process and Project Development for Heraeus Precious Metal Processing, LLC, including all sites in accordance with Heraeus Worldwide principles. The Process Engineer – RC/WWT is responsible for the development, planning, and execution of assigned projects throughout the SFS sites in an effective, timely, and economically efficient manner. The position will focus on projects, process improvements, and reliability efforts related, but not limited to, the SFS Chemical Products (CP), Metal Organic Compounds (MOC), and Gauze production areas. This includes supporting reliability and maintenance teams with troubleshooting within these respective areas.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Design and develop next generation production processes and strives to improve the existing technology.
- Supports production in the case of acute problems either with Production Managers approval, or in an emergency with prompt notification.
- Supports maintenance group in the case of acute problems and questions concerning material selection and corrosion resistance with Production Managers approval, or in an emergency with prompt notification.
- Plans and executes assigned projects for the development of new processes and products under special consideration of costs and time schedule.
- Developed and executed projects related to production in close working together with production managers, supervisors and operators.
- Maintain complete documentation of assigned projects including operational, working instructions and procedures according to HMP’s ISO system.
- Provide proper training of supervisors and operators for new and improved processes or products.
- Working towards the company goal for the reduction of accidents.
- Supports the introduction of the QM 9001 2000 and DIN EN ISO 14001 system in Process Development Department and HMP.
- Works with support staff to assure project adherence to quality, safety and environmental standards that exceed the industry minimum.
- Delivers data necessary for permit registration and authority compliance within California and USA legislation.
- Assures us that newly invented and improved processes increase the precious metal security in HMP.
- Assures precious metal security during tests and storage in the Process Development areas.
- Responsible for the planning, installation, maintenance and servicing of the devices, machinery and equipment in the department pursuant to the legal regulations in force,
- Responsible for timely communication of information to the VP Quality and Regulatory Compliance or his designee regarding any planned changes and new investments (as relevant under environmental or occupational protection aspects)
What is required for this role:
- An experienced engineer with appropriate industry experience, preferably in the precious metal industry.
- An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
- Technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus.
- A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
- Able to communicate with people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills.
- Masters or bachelor’s degree in engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- 3+ years working experience preferred.
