Job Purpose:

Responsible for supporting manufacturing activities such as day to day trouble shooting and support, support manufacturing, cost reductions and quality improvements projects. Participate or lead continuous improvement projects as required in conjunction with Continuous Improvement Engineering.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the Heraeus Code of Conduct Policy as applicable for position.
  • Works with a positive attitude and acts within the principles of HMC core values.
  • Support machinists and manufacturing operators in programs, set ups in equipment (Vertical and Horizontal Mills, CNC Lathes, EDM Machines, Citizen M/C or “R” Swiss Machines, etc.) by problem solving using new and/or existing tools.
  • Ensure set up recipes are optimum to manufacture parts to meet specified tolerances with minimal scrap and time.
  • Propose jobs and programs to exceed standard quoted rates, with proper guidelines and manufacturing procedures.
  • Data interpretation and analysis to prevent product potential quality problems.
  • Seek for approval from the immediate supervisor to perform changes related to critical process parameters.
  • Develop new tooling SMED to improve current tooling for production and secondary equipment.
  • Manage and effectively support multiple Manufacturing Engineering parallel projects and deadlines.
  • Technical training to machinist and manufacturing operators.
  • Support process improvements based on Engineering and Manufacturing priorities regarding yield, quality, and cost, through methodologies such as Six Sigma DMAIC, DOE’s, Lean (mudas elimination, time studies, line balancing, etc.) and SPC.
  • Review and suggest preventive maintenance routines.
  • Full responsibility for production department support.
  • Support transfer and validation activities based on assigned priorities.
  • Support CAPA’s and investigations activities based on assigned priorities.
  • Assist site safety representatives in evaluating process/machine risks and potential risk reduction initiatives as needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by advisor to support manufacturing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical High School Degree or Technical Degree.
  • 2-3 years of medical devices experience.
  • Availability to work at hourly business schedule (Shift “A” and ”B”).
  • Willing to work extended hours as required and potentially travel once a year if needed.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Good verbal and writing communication skills. Must be able to articulate and listen attentively to questions, concerns and feedback from coworkers and customers.
  • Capable to create legible, accurate, and detailed documents that clearly communicate product and manufacturing expectations.
  • Technical Knowledge: High understanding of manufacturing equipment, blueprints interpretation, basic validation knowledge, general lean manufacturing concepts and knowledgeable in formal process of continuous improvement tools and technical writing.Critical

Preferred Qualifications:
